Anthony Lerew recalled from Richmond

Filed under: Team News, Views and Regular Season and Minor Leagues, Draft — Matthew @ 1:19 am

With more roster spots available, the Braves recalled yet another rookie (the 17th to play with the major league club this season), right-hander Anthony Lerew, from their Triple-A Richmond affiliate on Saturday. Though he has been a starter in the minors all season Lerew will be pitching out of the Atlanta bullpen the rest of the regular season. The 22-year-old pitcher was 4-4 in 13 starts at Richmond this season with a 3.48 ERA. Before being promoted to the AAA level, Lerew sported a 6-2 record and 3.93 ERA in 14 starts for the Class AA Mississippi Braves. He was an 11th round draft pick of the Braves in 2001.
