Mike Hampton placed on 15-day DL, Macay McBride recalled from Richmond
What a shocker! For the 4th time this year, Mike Hampton has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a sore back stemming from a herniated disc he was diagnosed with earlier in the year. Since returning from his most recent stint on the DL August 14th he has been battered for 10 earned runs on 20 hits in only 8 1/3 innings over 2 starts for a 10.80 ERA. With the move being retroactive to Saturday the 20th he will be eligible to return from the DL on September 4th. With Hampton sidelined, Jorge Sosa will assume starting duties once again. Hampton’s roster spot will be filled by lefty reliever Macay McBride who has been recalled from Triple-A Richmond.
