Mike Hampton activated from 15-day DL, Macay McBride optioned to Richmond
Mike Hampton was activated from the 15-day disabled list prior to the Braves’ game against the Diamondbacks Sunday. Hampton had been on the DL since July 18th with a strained back. Hampton earned the win in his return, giving up 3 runs (all earned) in 5 innings on 9 hits and 1 walk in the series finale with the DB’s. However, he struck out none. He is now 5-2 with a 2.73 ERA on the year. Lefty reliever Macay McBride was sent back down to Richmond to accomodate Hampton’s return to the active roster. McBride pitched well during the short time he was with the major league club, holding the opponent scoreless during 8 of his 9 appearances (he gave up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Cardinals August 5th which accounted for his 6.00 ERA).
