Kelly Johnson wins NL Player of the Week

Braves rookie outfielder Kelly Johnson has won National League Player of the Week honors for his play this past week. During games played June 13th to 19th he batted .417 with 3 home runs and a league-leading 11 RBIs. He accumulated 2 of those homers and 4 RBIs (only the 4th Braves rookie to do so) in Friday night’s game. With the Braves tallying a NL-leading 44 runs last week, Braves hitters Wilson Betemit, Julio Franco and Andruw Jones were also in the running for the award (each hit at least .350 with 2 or more homers last week). :mrgreen:

  1. i think kelly johnson is a great athlete and an excellent outfilder. I am glad to have him playing with the braves along with all the younger players. it makes the game have more spirit and more enjoyable to watch. You always love to see the young guys make it big.
