After he fell apart last year, he might be an affordable option and become yet another of Mazzone’s famous reclamation projects. That would allow the Braves to use what little money they have left on a top-notch outfielder to replace Drew. But I think Schuerholz wants to exhaust all options to obtain an ace (i.e. Tim Hudson) before turning to a fixer-upper. If the Braves could trade Chipper I’m sure they would. They would love to move one of their big contracts (which is why Andruw Jones is still often rumored to be on the block for the right package).
